Accommodations
Accommodations in the Iwokrama Forest range from safari-style cabins with beds to open-air camps with hammocks. Where you stay depends on what you plan to do and what you want to experience.
Field Station The Field Station has 3 thatched-roof cabins that have recently been upgraded. Each cabin very comfortably accommodates 6 people. All beds are equipped with mosquito nets, and all cabins have window screens, wash basins, flush toilets and showers.

There are plans to expand the number of guest cabins. In the meantime, large groups could arrange to increase the number of beds in each cabin, as well as use staff dormitories and pitch hammocks.
The Fred Allicock Training Centre is a 9,000 sq. ft., octagonal 2-storeyed building with two scientific labs, a PC lab with internet access, a small store, a modest but expanding reference library, and a lounge. The building also houses administrative offices and offers event facilities like training and other meeting spaces.
Communications from the Field Station to the outside world are by radio, telephone and email.
Satellite Camps More adventurous groups can take advantage of the six satellite camps that are scattered throughout the Forest. Turtle Mountain Camp is a very modern facility, opened in April 2003, and has wooden open-air sleeping huts, a dining hut, and flush toilets. The other camps are open-sided buildings with zinc roofs, separate cooking areas and pit latrines, and are all close to a permanent waterway. Visitors to satellite camps sleep in hammocks with specially designed mosquito nets.

Fly Camps For a truly rugged experience, visitors can stay at a primitive fly camp. These have a rudimentary frame with a tarpaulin for a roof. A similar structure nearby provides the cooking area and visitors sleep in hammocks with specially designed mosquito nets.
